There is a way to tell the difference of a male and female yoshi. The males are dark and the females are light, birdo in the other hand is something else, transvestite my guess.

0:06... EPIC BIRDO TWIRLIE!!!!!!

I love the one where shes like washing the window LOL

Birdo is male, but since Birdo wants to be a girl, it's correct to call her a she.
-
I hate Birdo because he/she is always causing people to argue and get confused about it's gender. And it's a tranny! :D

@zorroluigi As for the many different birdos, how do you know that there are male and female birdos? How do we even know for sure that yoshi is a male, has yoshi been refered to as a male consistantly?
The birdo that we see all the time is most likely the same one from SMB2, most likely. But I can only speculate. It wouldn't make sense for them to use or popularize a random pink birdo that wasn't seen before.

@zorroluigi So you are implying that color and the way birdo acts and dresses means that birdo is a female? If you are implying this, I would have to strongly disagree. Color doesn't mean anything. There are girls that hate the color pink, and don't wear pink. There are guys who like the colors purple or pink, and dont like the colors red or blue. Girls that dont wear dresses or bows, guys that wear eyeliner, jewlery, and earings. Not everyone lives up to gender steryeotypes.

@SUPERspark64ify Besides that there are lots of different types of Birdos (males and females), such as the green, yellow or pink yoshies (or "ridable") ...personally i think that catherine is the birdo from SMBUSA i've seen so much stuff relating birdo as a girl so i dont see how she can be a guy...
-
@zorroluigi Hmm.....Well then, i'd like to see some proof showing that birdo is indeed a "female" and that birdo is a female even in japan. Since the mario series is from japan, everything that is in japanese character descriptions applies to the the U.S version as well. Well, I feel it should apply here aswell. But people think that "catherine" and birdo should be seen as different entities.

birdo isnt male sure in some countries birdos a male but it dont matter stop fighting over the stupidest things ever

Some animals have no gender, they can make themself male when they need. Otherwise, they're female.
