  • Look in her eyes...she's crying inside. No one sings this better than her.

  • @bolideeva I quite agree - there's a stillness about her which is most bewitching. She allows her emotions and thoughts to just roll out through her voice; you can see it in her eyes, too, and every part of her body language. She's not ensuring the message comes accross, she's just being. So very beautiful and truly moving.

  • I know this is the point where I'm supposed to rave about Te Kanawa, but everyone else is doing such a marvelous job of that... Instead, I'd like to say that Ms. Bonney is absolutely stupendous here, as well.

  • Te Kanawa always floors me as the Marschallin. I have this DVD...at the end of Act 1, one single tear runs down her cheek...she lives this part. Destroys me...it will be hard to find someone to match her in this part.

  • To think that Anne Howells jumped in with very little notice to save this broadcast. You would have never known by just watching this.

  • Just one word: splendid!

  • @jacksvoice You couldn't have said it better.

  • Outstanding...It doesn't get any better than this!!

  • The ultimate breakup music

  • Sorry to be so.. well, not say anything about the singing.. but I have to say, Oh My GOD! The costumes!Bah! take my breath away

  • I think, Dame Kiri is the only Marchallin that really loves Octavian, the other ones are more concerned about getting old. I just would love to see Dame Kiri singing it with Brigitte Fassbaender or Sena Jurinac as Octavian.
