Was that "slight MacCormack pause" (0:23) acting? I think so. See him talk about it in biestmilch's "Chris "MACCA" McCormack talking about the last 7 miles to the finish line in Kona 2010". He let Andreas catch up. Gapped him twice and then edged him into the drinks providers so that Andreas had to take his drinks in front of his chest, slowing him down. Then wham.
Perhaps the whole thing was an iron war produced and directed by Macca.
