Kulning vid havet - Swedish folk music - Mikael Frisk

Swedish folk music on vocals performed by Mikael Frisk / svensk folkmusik, kulning framförd av Mikael Frisk.

Kulning is a type of traditional Swedish hearding-call mostly performed by women but sometimes, as here, also performed by a man.

Kulning was traditionally used at the pasture (where young women watched the animals who were grazing in the woods for long periods in the summers) for several purposes: communicate with other pastures, summon the animals and scare of predators and other beings (both real and superstitous)

This 'kulning' to the sea is filmed at Garnberget, Långasand, Halland, Sweden. I had a little flue but I don't think it affected me untill the last note.

När jag gick fiolkurs på Malungs folkhögskola 2007-2008 fick hela klassen en snabbkurs i kulning av Maria Röjås. Det är inget jag direkt har övat på (förutom att jag alltid sjungit mycket) eller gör särskilt ofta men jag tycker att det är roligt att göra ibland.
