Here we catch the train on its way back to Gettysburg this time with F7A 402 equipped with a cool mars light, leading the train with FP9A 1755 riding back on the rear. I really liked how this shot turned out and interestinglingly enough a guy who got a shot very similar to this one made the cover of Railpace Magazine although he took the shot from the other side of the tracks. Unfortunatley I only got a few shots of the train since they ran just sort of Biglersville before returning to Gettysburg which made for an abbreviated run. Hope you like the shots we did manage to get though.

  • The Railroad Stopped All of it's passenger operations last year. Apparently, it's selling off Units 401 and 402. One of them, I believe the 402 threw a rod through the engine block. And I'm currently in the process of looking into purchasing the combine railcar for personal use.

  • That sucks, it was a nice RR. Are they still doing freight service??

  • Yes, they are still doing freight service, but the railroad was never all that nice, sure the scenery was nice, but the engineer was making several errors in regards to safety at railroad crossings. For example, when warning lights are OS you are required to either have a flagman stationed at the crossing, at which time you can proceed, or stop at the crossing and then creep into it. Neither of which was performed when I was riding the line back in 07.

  • Ah I see how it was.

  • @Leviathan609 401 threw the rod

  • @Leviathan609

The engineer was the GM. That's why I quit.

  • @Leviathan609 ...Speaking of operational errors, the 1278 was a good locomotive. It's such a shame it had the accident. It's also a shame that Steamtown sold their g5's, but that's a rant for a different page!

  • Yup.

  • Indeed.

  • Nice.
