Coaches, Zach Lofton is a pure scorer that draws favorable comparisons to a Richard Hamilton type of player. He presents a difficult match up for guards as he moves well with or without the ball, knows how to utilize screens to get open and has the ability to create space to get his shot off. These skills were present when he starred for the Howard Pulley Panthers top AAU team this summer when the played the likes of Austin Rivers, Bradley Beal and other top players in his class. He has shown the ability to take over games when needed. Lofton has decent range outside of 3- point line that stretches a defense and opens up driving lanes for him and his teammates. He is a decent secondary ball handler that sees the floor and finds the open teammates especially when doubled. Lofton also has some bounce and long arms which makes him difficult to defend when slashing to the bucket. Lofton knows how to flat out score from anywhere on the floor.
Although Lofton has a solid offensive game, at 6'2" he may need to develop his ball handling and playmaking skills to be more effective at the next level. His development to more of a combo-guard will go a long way in expanding his game and making him even more difficult to guard. With his ability and confidence in shooting the ball eh would be very difficult to defend in ball screen situations.
Lofton is a player with the ability to fill it up. He will always find a place in the line up as he improves his mid range game and consistency from beyond the 3- point line. He has the attitude and swagger that demands the ball in game pressure situations and thrives in key moments. Definite division one prospect!
