Both esc and the motor can handle 3s lipo, individually, toghetr don´t because the esc can´t handle the motors power when on 3s (overheating>thermal shutdown). If you use a 4600kv motor then you can easly use 3s, but for 5700kv motor on 3s you will need more powerfull esc, like mamba max

@mattman1515 Ye mine overheats a lot but i'm going to change the gearing so it won't overheat as much. the only thing is it will be a bit slower:( also getting a 2s lipo because the motor doesn't like taking a 3s lipo. but it will be alright if you get the esc computer link for the esc so you can set it to 3s because they come set up for only 2s. So also buying one of those. so i can beat my mates losi speed-t and thunder tiger xxt.
