@Svank1988 I never said it was Muslim or Arab. My point was this music originated among the Mende and the Bambara thousands of years before Islam. I don't like how Muslims and Arabs claim our culture for their own and don't recognize the contributions of other people.

The music of the Gnawa is rooted in the ancient Ghana empire and the Bambara hunters' harp. It was fanatics from the Maghrib who continually attacked Sudani Muslim states. And it was Morocco which united with England and Spanish mercenaries to destroy the Muslim Songhai empire and sold many Sudani Muslims to Europeans as slaves.
This racist wound must be addressed and healed.
