All is different.
Weapons, vehicles, maps, missons and GUI.
Nothing is like BF.
id-software is working hard on this game and they are making many community patches.
EA is publishing 3 games in that time like id-software whould publish together with Activision only once.
W:ET is freeware because of quality assurance problems. EA had just released this game to earn money.
ETQW is like W:ET. You can play it native on Mac, Linux, Windows, Xbox 360 and ps3.
ETQW has nearly no bugs but BF has a lot.

YEah it's there... "sudo passwd"..

setting a root password? wtf, use sudo!

You can edit your config just google "fullscreen etqw" and you will find the cvar.

BF doesnt run on Linux native and all weapons are different.
Also BF doesn't support OpenGL.
BF is a soulless game like the Strogg in ETQW.

You need a fast graphics card.. I have a 8600 GT.. It uses more pixel shaders than battlefield, that's why it is so slow, your processor speed will do nothing to make it faster, you need a fast graphics card. All the CPU ever does is arrange polygons, the graphics card does the rest. Also Quake Wars blows Battlefield's AI to hell, play a game in single player you'll see..

Open a terminal. You may neeed to set the root password if you haven't. Use "sudo passwd", it will ask for your password, then you enter the password for root, and again for confirmation. Next do "su -", enter the password you just entered. Then go to the file you find the file in your computer, in the terminal window type "cd _path_to_file_". Then "chmod 777 _file_", enter "./_file_", this installs, answer questions, find file "etqw" in "/usr/games"(?), drag etqw onto icon bar, double click.

i cant even get it to run on my ubuntu can you tell me what site you got yours from

BTW, I have two videos one in windows XP and one in Ubuntu Linux 7.10 I just put on youtube.. I used full settings, at 1280x1024 on a NVidia 8600 GT.. It isn't top of the line, but it cost me about 120 dollars for the graphics card. Also using a Pentium-D (Dell Dimension 9150), 16x PCI-E, and 2.5 GB of ram.. The only difference is that the Windows has anti-aliasing turned on. I couldn't pick this in Ubuntu. This is the commercial version I'm using. The 1.4 full client works..
How did you get it to run in a window? I can only get it to run fullscreen in Ubuntu Gutsy on my NVidia 8400(??) GT

30 avg? how come can't get more fps? :X
thugricanz 4 years ago
they are capped at 30 fps
it's a setting
if you unlock them they increase
in any game you need 30 fps to see it smooth
in FPS games, and in any fast game, you usually don't want fps to go up/down too fast and so you cap them to some value
mastroDani 4 years ago
do com_unlock_timingmethod 0 and the FPS will uncap completely from 30
