Fucking crossfiters and there kippling pullups. Are they the same as dead hang, hell no! Get these guys to do 20 dead hangs, and it wont happen. I can do double my pullups numbers when I kip then when I dead hang. That right there says one is way harder. This is such a stupid debate anyway, Do what works for you, but personally, my dead hangs are 4x as hard and what I use on a regular basis. Personal pref.

hey "tomkinson" do you do crossfit.....if not shut the fuck up, cause in crossfit it is all about range of motion which helps you with flexibility....we don't do kipping pull-ups so it will be easier for us, we do it do the cardio

These pull ups are very different, I know them as kipping pull ups. This is a great exercise, however the form showed here is terrible. Proper symmetry must be enforced here to get the maximum benefit.

17 is really good. My best is 11 rounds + 8 pull ups. I did the first 8 or 9 rounds strict pull ups and the last few with kipping, so if I kipped all the rounds I bet I could get anywhere from 13-15 rounds.

Not power? That's strange, because power = distance / time...and he moved himself above the bar more times in less time than had he done them strict. Kipping pull ups develop more power than strict pull ups do.

....um, power = WORK divided by time, where work = force times distance. When he kicks like that, he's increasing his momentum and decreasing the amount of force necessary to get him up, and thus decreasing power output.

Regardless, they stopped halfway through. With a REAL ladder you go back down to one pullup.

Kipping pull ups are to strict pull ups what a jerk is to a shoulder press. It has the same purpose--to move weight from point A to point B, but the method is just different. It is a different exercise, just like a jerk is a different exercise than a shoulder press. Are the Olympic lifters then "cheating" when they do a jerk?
