Abraham Lincoln Freed The Slaves... But Why???

We are taught in school that Abraham Lincoln was "The Great Emancipator" and that the Civil War was fought in order to free the slaves. But the words of Abraham Lincoln tend to not exactly coincide with what history is teaching us.

Abe Lincoln freed the slaves with the sole intent of sending them back to africa because he said himself he didnt think blacks should intergrate into white society. He basically feared what...well...what is going on today. He knew the truth and the truth was two cultures and races can never, ever peaceful co-exsist.

And also Abraham Lincoln did still feel that African Americans were inferior to European-Americans. There is a good author who debates that black people are responsible for their own emancipation "There Is a River: The Black Struggle for Freedom in America" by Vincent Harding. He also makes a very good point.

What you're saying is true, these are quotes by Abraham Lincoln. Some historians would argue however that Abraham Lincoln knew that by declaring the Civil War a war on Slavery Northerners would not fight "for the nigger" (quote from that time) and also the border states would flock to the Confederacy. He was attempting to end slavery gradually, while maintaining the Union. There is a lot of debate of course, but I do feel that they have a valid point. There was still much racism in the Union.

Did you ever see the star trek episode where there were 2 races of people who were half black and half white one race was black on the left side of the body and the other race was black on the right side of the body?

Kirk and crew were trying to help them end a war but they refused and killed each other and hey were the last ones standing of their race and became extinct.

FYI a number of places were NOT included in the emancipation proclamation including: Lousianna, Jefferson, St. John, St James, St. Charles, Assemption Perish, Assumption Perish, West Virginia.
