Mormon messages notwithstanding, LDS Church doctrine makes it impossible that most families will be together forever. So seize the precious time you have with your family now.

You would make Elder Ballard proud. This kind of response must be what he had in mind when he encouraged members to get online and defend the church. I hope you keep up the good work.

I have not answered this because I believe in one saying, "I quit arguing not because your right, but because I don't like arguing with idiots"!

  • Amen!!

  • Even their prophet Gordon Hinckley admitted in a televised interview they know very little about the afterlife, that it is all a matter of faith. This video seems to be arguing specifics which even the Mormon prophets don't claim to have.

It would make more sense if the church taught, "Families can be together in theory, but given the reality of people's choices, your family is likely to fail."

  • @ZenMormon Amen. That's just about exactly what I was going to comment with in response to this video. Could not have said it better.

So the best we can say about the church is that it is selling an unrealistic message. It would be better if the church said, "Families can be together, but given the reality of people's choices, your family is likely to fail."

(Not quite as catchy, I know.)

    1. The stake president I talk to once a month or so is the one who told me that "young people are leaving the church at such a high rate that the General Authorities are deeply concerned". As you may know, stake presidents regularly go to training meetings where general authorities preside.

    2. No matter whose sins prevent most families from being together forever, the LDS Church is still guilty of pushing a greatly exaggerated (i.e., false) message. For most families, no chance.

  • @iqlusionblogspot It's peoples choices that make it impossible for families to be together, not God's, nor is it the church. God gives simple commands to follow that would allow Families to be together forever, it is up to the individual if they want to keep them or not. If you want to put blame on someone put it on the individual/s and not the church. FYI, the statement, "Young people are leaving the church at such a high rate that the General Authorities are deeply concerned", is unfounded.

  • The problem here is belief systems. If you believe God is a man who will pass judgment on you, then in the flesh you are a servant to his will. If you believe we are spiritual beings living a physical moment, so who we truly are (Spirits) will learn, then you are free to choose and you will progress according to the universal law of higher consciousness.
