No, this song was written by Monica Dannemann and Roth for Jimi Hendrix. Monica was Jimi's girlfriend and after his death became romantically involved with Roth. Monica died ,in 1996, maybe by commiting a suicide.That s the true story about the song!

Ahm. Yes you are right. But....this song was written in 1977 and Monika died in 1996. The police ruled it as a suicidal when she died in 1996. I doubt (if you were asking me) that a painter with such a fragile and cultural mind would have want to kill herself while driving. That would not be like Monika...nor would look like a real Farewell from her. So...going back to the roots of this song...they were meant for Jimi from Monika. Uli helped in writing as well.

Monica was cleared of all wrongdoing in Jimi's passing There were those who continued to torment her throughout her life with regards to this. If anyone was responsible for Jimi's passing it was his manager, Michael Jeffrey. Jimi was, apparently, just soaked with red wine and had taken a vast amount of Monica's sleeping pills.
