Are you a cop? Check out http://ActionVids.blogspot.com

Date: 4:00 PM. September 19, 2006.
Location: Downtown Bellevue on Bellevue Way near Bellevue High School.

Two female Bellevue High School students were hit by a white colored van when they crossed. The driver of the van was let go when it was found out he had the green light and the two girls were crossing without a "walk" signal. Three major news stations covered this story as breaking news (Komo 4, King 5, and Kiro 7). You can see how accident investigators collect evidence. Both female BHS students were transported to Harborview Medical Center, treated, and later released.

I was able to talk over the phone to Kiro 7 reporter Amy Clancy who then relayed me to the reporter that was covering this story, Kyle Moore, about the accident. I knew Amy Clancy's number from another unrelated incident. The reason I called them is because I didn't know that their station was aware of or present at this news story, so I was going to see if they wanted my video. We were discussing whether they needed my video and we were going to meet up, but after I saw there coverage over the TV, I realized they didn't need my video and called him back to tell him. He was very nice. Even though my video didn't get on TV, it was pretty cool talking to reporter Kyle Moore about journalism. If you're ever in Western Washington and see a breaking story, call Kiro 7 because they respond to you immediately unlike the other news stations.

Editor's note: the sound editing in this short video I am especially proud of. Notice how when the picture cuts, the sound still runs over, giving the illusion to the viewer that he/she is watching real time. This is a common practice for (sound) editors to do so that the audience does not get distracted by the differences in camera angles and time differences. This was edited with Magix Edit Pro 10.
