45 years today.......RIP Donald Campbell, a true brave British Hero! Excellent work from all the team that are restoring bluebird K7. Seeing it restored and running on Coniston once more will be a magical, spellbinding sight!

I saw K7 when I was a child.
When Campbell reset the World WSR record in Australia K7, on a truck, stopped outside my primary school and we students were sent out to see it.
I always wondered why Campbell didn't return to Australia to attempt his new record after his success here previously.

How much of the original boat can actually be salvaged and used in the restoration?Reminds me of a 200 year old historical house that was restored here in NY. As they worked deeper and deeper into the structure of the house they found almost everything rotted and ended up replacing almost the whole thing but the bricks and the glass in the window. It's like the old story of Grandpa's axe. The handle was replaced twice and the head once, but it's still Grandpa's axe. Good luck on a worthy project

HI, thanks for your question.
Unlike many historic vehicle restorations, Bluebird will be almost entirely original. She's been rebuilt from every last scrap of her original pieces, and what you will see will be Donald Campbell's machine, not a replica nor a half and half job.
