This was a year long effort to understand how colors are perceived in different combinations, both in proximity and temporally--quickly changing colors. I tried hundreds of frame rates and color frequencies. The effects are due to the time it takes the rods and cones in our eyes to re-charge and re-fire as well as the time it takes to process vision.
Unfortunately the way these changes affect what the eye/brain perceives were done using 30 frames per second display rate and YouTube converts all uploads to 25fps. However after uploading the original slowed down to 25 fps it fails miserably at creating the intended perception. I have played around with it in AfterEffects and helped it at least be interesting. I will put the 30fps version up on my website when I have the time.
Science and Art should not be in isolated categories, art is always expressed with tools that depend on the science of our minds.
