  • Hey...what is hip? Wouldn't hip be something to each his own? I'm sorry to say that you're wrong about Maynard. Maynard had a lot of soul, but you just don't dig it. Which is fine. Freddie had a lot of soul, you dug it...but respect everybody's soul brother.

  • Let's just leave it at this: Freddie Hubbard was the f**king man.....end of story.

  • I don't get how Freddie was able to do all those gigs with misdeveloped chops, if that is even a word? He was awesome, but with all the playing he's done, don't know how he got to that level without injury earlier. Today's trumpeters, the pros, all hit double c's with relative ease i'd say. I'm a trumpeter, bottom line, the trumpet is a funny instrument.

  • WTF

  • Wow, now that I have watched this again with different ears, I realize that that was a good ass double c and that he kept it for longer than most people can keep a high e.

  • As much as I adore Freddie, this is what ruined his chops in the last 15 years or so of his life...he was so musically talented that he was just able to "Make things happen", even if it meant damage to his face...R.I.P Freddie Hubbard, my favorite jazz trumpet player.

  • How can people dislike this. Try playing that note without hemorrhaging. Freddie Hubbard you legend!

  • IMPLESIONATE FREDDIE!!!!! FUISTE UN GRANDE.

  • @boricuatrumpet69 I've noticed from "my " experience that there are a lot of trumpeters that can hit them high notes all night but can't take a solo for squat... to the trumpeters out there... what are you concentrating on when you practice??? Personally i contrate on endurance flexibilty and when i do the soloing stuff i think melodically and conversationally? But that's me... thanx

  • I am not a fan of playing high nots what so ever but i like tasteful high notes just like this one... Maynard had some tasteful high notes as well as others who done it... but Arturo Sandoval??? Not a fan at all of his high notes they come at the wrong time. The on time I enjoyed that type from Arturo was from the albums he did in the 90's that won him critical acclaim.

This is just my opinion others may think differently and I respect that.

  • Terrible !!

  • MARVELOUS
