  • i have been thinking of buying a SSD to my MacBook early 09, im "working" as webdesigner and coder, do you think 60GB is enoth for Photoshop, Adium, Cyberduck and smultron?

  • 60GB should be enough. even with my 30GB boot camp partition and many programs installed on my mac partition i have still 80GB of free space on my 120GB SSD.

  • What kind of battery life do you get with the ssd in there?

  • i recently installed snow leopard which gives me a battery run time of about 4 hours when doing some office work or surfing the web.

Startup time decreased to 25 sec.

  • Is that the "Mac Edition" (Apple certified) Vertex? Apologies if you already answered this.

  • no, it's the standart edition. But I read in the OCZ forum that the only difference between them is the sticker on it ;)

  • @zeniamin Hahah yeah. Or the new intel 510 series ssd... Over 500Mb read speeds! :) :)

  • word 2008??

  • Can't believe people are so excited about these MLC SSDs. I haven't seen a single clip on youtube with someone testing an SLC SSD...and probably won't. Check out the specs on the new OZC Vertex 2 EX Series....or check the price first, then come back and watch these videos...Guaranteed to make you laugh...or cry.

  • I can do better with my Kingston SSDnow V100 :)

    In 14 seconds

  • Yo dawg – what is the song in the background? Sounds pretty neat! Also congrats on your SSD! Have fun :)

  • @dinjin201 Absolutely. I think the Mac vs PC scene is just ridiculous. Both do what they are designed for, and they are suited for their users. Mac is great at what they do, and Windows based PC's are great for what they do.

  • @GarrettBMXes Wow. that's what i've been trying to say lol. yeah. macs are amazing inside thier very specific uses - just like every other device apple releases :)

Couldnt have said it better myself.

  • @dinjin201

I know exactly what Mac computers are used for. Most often serious video editors and some serious media development. Mac computers are awesome, just not for everyone.

  • @lakshmere There's a better way to put this:

Microsoft tries to take software, and let it be driven by hardware it supports many more powerful chips and Graphics cards.

Apple tries to take hardware, and drive it to new heights using software. This is evident in the iphone screen. the actual hardwaer isnt much different from what other touchphones have. however, software engineering and tuning has done wonders for how amazingly responsive and iphone feels. that's the fundamental difference.

  • @lakshmere i wholeheartedly agree :P and we dont like trolls ;)

I use my mac mini as a student becase i like the software and time machine is great :) its fast, and more reliable. I mod my machines, and definetly think apple ram is a ripoff. I have windows in bootcamp for when i want to play those old games - not much hardware required, and i have all 3 game consoles for my hardcore gaming :D (xb360 ps3 and wii).

THe wii - only cuz i like super smash bros. :)
