The Friday night (Aug 27, 2010) concert was by far the largest at the PNE 2010 fairgrounds in Vancouver's Hastings Park. On stage, Joan Jett dedicated the concert to the memory of her mother who passed away two days ago. Joan Jett and The Blackhearts then played many of their hit songs including I Love Rock n Roll, Bad Reputation, Crimson & Clover and I Hate Myself For Lovin' You. The last two are featured in this video. At the end of the last song, she draped herself over the microphone as if to say goodbye. It was a very moving image. • The way she draped herself over the microphone at the end of the last song was the most moving for me.

  • I was there and all I felt from the crowd around me was love and support for a women who had just lost her mother. Joan is the most amazing rock and roll guitar player, singer out there and everyone adores her. I mentioned to my friends I was going to see her and all and everyone commented on the great performance I was about to see. She is a goddess, and a f'n unbelievable performer, Joan u are a great role model for women everywhere. U were definably superb. U r a true rock & roll star.

  • Joan put on an awesome show, especially given that she had just lost her mom. I loved her before, but I definitely have a new level of respect for her after this performance. Joan is amazing!!

and @sxygrrl, I'm sure she was just emotionally drained by the end. She did such a good job of keeping it together, but she's only human after all!

  • I am so lucky to have been there. I thought Joan Jett looked hot as usual but also frail, exhausted, very sad -- completely unlike her usual presence. Yet, she put on an awesome show and sounded great all night. It was really touching. I thought it was awfully kind of her to put on a show for our sake when she was so sad.

  • I love her so much

  • She opened for Robert Plant in 1988 in Hamilton, Ontario at Copps Collisseum...my first concert. She ROCKED then, and she still ROCKS now!

  • How old is she ?

  • She ROCKS! kick ass performer! xoxoxox Love her! <3

  • Joan, such courage, bravery and professionalism after the loss of your mother. Wish i could've given you a hug to help with your loss, i know how much pain you were going through. Your Mom is to be thanked and praised for her wonderful self, and given the world the great gift that is the terrific indescribablly magical Joan Jett. Wonderful performance and video, thanks.

  • Joan Jett is awesome, I've seen her play live many times. However, let's remember this song was written by Tommy James & The Shondells. Tommy is also a rock legend, combining garage with psychedelia long before the hippie movement. Like Joan, Tommy sounds exactly the same as he did years ago, his band is tight. There is a new movie coming out about Tommy James' life, which is similar to the one about The Runaways. The movie tells the same story in Tommy's recent NY Times bestseller book.

  • She ROCKS FOREVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

  • joan is kickin' ass

  • S
