Love, Hate, Hope Ramsgate

This video was commissioned by Ramsgate Arts as part of their Love, Hate, Hope Ramsgate exhibition in a disused shop in the high street in August 2009. It features Ramsgate people saying what they love about, hate about and hope for their town.

Ramsgate Arts will use the feedback generated by the exhibition to produce more events in the coming year, culminating in a three day festival - A Summer Squall - in August 2010.

I have lived in Ramsgate for all 22 of my years and I think it is a lovely place. There is much worse... Margate for example LOL

Well, the final clip sums up the only thing that is wrong with the place... Its a simple little word... DRUGS. There IS a massive drugs problem in Thanet. Kids get into it young (i was one of them). Opportunities for young careers are slim to non-existent (unless you're content climbing the ladder at a west-wood hypermarket, as some of my schoolmates have been!) Hence I left... Found a Job in Bromley, saved my arse off and now run my own business in the beautiful English countryside! Im a winner

@thecodaband People are often too quick to knock it, but it is constantly improving and is still a great place to live!

I grew up as a boy in Ramsgate,went to St Georges...till i was about 20..then left England. Have travelled the world more than once...seen and done many things,as we all do in our lives, but i still miss the sunsets from the west cliff..the life of this ancient town,as is Rome where i live here in Italy....I return now and again...and just look and feel the town..where my heart really lives ...still....i see how it has become a little 'rundown' etc but i still love RAmsgate..don't run it down !

well i lived ramsgate my whole life and i can tell you no one has ever hit, tryed to mugg me, threatened me, ive never seen people with knifes or drugs! yeah there are people with them but you get the exact same in Margate!
