  • I never got this thing where people think they're entitled to something. Just because you bought (or, more likely, downloaded) all of Opeth's old albums does not mean that the band has to go out of their way to please you. If Opeth want to release a rap album in 2013, then that's their right. Even if if you hate the current direction of their music, at least be grateful you still have all those old records to go to whenever you want.

  • I JUST NOTICE SOMETHING

opeth live is much more better than the album version

  • increadable opeth ,,,

  • @RealityDysfunction85 I understand your point, i probably agree that i don't enjoy heritage as much as any of their earlier stuff, but i know where mikael is coming from. I'm in a band and we specifically said that we have to make the music we want to make, because if you start not caring what you do as long as it pleases everyone, then it's no longer about the music, it's not pretention. Also i'll just state that opeth were never death metal, they have always been prog.

  • @RealityDysfunction85 The problem with your query is that the minute a band starts doing music for the fans and not themselves, is the day that band becomes Metallica. Mikael has stated several times that he hasn't completely done away with Death Metal, he just writes whatever comes out for the album process. And how on earth can you say that The Lotus Eater or Heir Apparent are "mellow"?

  • @Lekiwi33 You have a very good point!

  • These guys are incredible. They are truly a source of endless inspiration!

  • epic band been a fan for a long time. just got the "O" tattooed on me lol

  • @RealityDysfunction85

It's not that I'm correct it's facts. Mikael has said many times that he loves prog rock, psychodelic rock and Heritage was a reflection of his love towards it and it's a damn good album. What annoys me is how you listeners think a band is supposed to please you every single time and that they're obligated to stay the same. Watershed wasn't completely mellow anyway. It's about the music not about being heavy all the time and that's what Opeth gets.

  • @DreadedLeopard Why are you angry that someone has an opinion that is different to yours? Maybe you should look at yourself before you go calling other people kids for disagreeing with you? I was calling no one out on this forum, I was expressing an opinion that you decided to attack because you're so sure that you are correct. Also, lol at the BROTOL call, can I use that? Made me smile.
