@W84EM Finally, Paid anti viruses are not for rich idiots. They are for the smart people tat have caught on. With your logic free AV's are for poor - out -of work-lazy- free loading idiots that sit in front of a key board all day eating there moms food and living in her basement. Paid works better. It's a well known fact you get what you pay for. I've seen it all. Been doing this for 30 years. You're not going to change my mind.

@W84EM Only a fool believes what they read in some on-line magazine. On line magazines test under controlled conditions. Plus, I believe they must get paid for giving good reviews. Especially when it comes to AVG. At one time these on line magazines were saying how good Avira was. When I was fixing one computer after the other where the free version had stopped running. Stopped updating and didn't give the user any notice at all. They wound up hopelessly infected. CONT'

@W84EM Is that the best argument you can come up with? With that logic, Free AV's are for poor idiots that know no better. Mal ware bytes is a good program in the paid version. The free version is OK. But the simple fact is that if you get infected badly enough the free version will not open or update. Really bad infections will not even let you download it. Hitman Pro is good, But it's the same way. I can tell you are a noob. You give it away. CONT'

@Eddie1962150 my last words: Paid antiviruses are for rich idiots. Free antiviruses are for clever people with brain. When you get infected then no antivirus (paid or free) will save you. There are things like Malwarebytes and Hitman Pro to deal with rootkits and spyware. BTW watch av-comparatives and virus bulletin more and you will see that AVG is not that bad.

Ransome ware doesn't get past Kaspersky. So far not one fake AV has ever gotten past Kaspersky. I have had 100% security now for over 5 yrs. Nothing has ever gotten through. Can't say the same about all mighty AVG or AVAST.
-
@W84EM One last thing, 98% of all computers that I have had to reload the running system on because of really bad infections either have AVG or AVAST on them. 100% of them have free AV's on them. People will go out and pay big bucks for a computer with all kinds of bells and whistles on it. Then turn around and put the sorriest free AV they can find on it. Then wonder why it only lasted a few months before it got hopelessly infected. Free AV's are junk. AVG # 1 junk. Bloat-ware crap.

@W84EM A PC expert? I get this feeling you are lying. No real PC experts I know will say that about AVG. It has the worst detection rate of any other AV on the market. (Somewhere in the 60% range) It's the worst with Trojan Malware. It walks right by it. Most times undetected. If it does detect it, It can't remove it. All it will do is stick it in a vault on your hard drive and take up space there. Root kits kick AVG ass. It's sorry. I've been working on PC's for 30 yrs. I know what works
As usual, AVG sucks the big one.

AVG...Almost as bad as spending time with your mother in law. Just as frustrating too.
