Her only mannerism that bugs me is the "sigh" used a little too often, otherwise I love her in this rep. So shoot me and scream Callas! as you do so. I've listened to Callas for 25 years now, and adore her, but opera moves on, girls.

When Bellini heard this aria by Renee Fleming said: "how beautiful it is, who is the composer?"

Does she interpolate a high piano D or Db at 4:23? Very impressive!

Yes she put her marks into that music, and there was splendid moments...but to my opinion (I was in the audience) she was in trouble some times. (just for example here it's really flat around 2.56.) but it's live and it can happen.
Moreover, there 's a general lack of simplicity in her musical options. One could think she has a tendency to show off her beautiful voice a bit too much, and that this music doesn't need that. It needs "necessity".

Even though I think it is a little too slow... well...a lot, but it was very nice... beautiful. Like Montserrat more in this aria... but Flemming did a great job. And for those who says everybody copies Callas, Montserrat isn´t doing any Callas interpretation. She does her own. And in my opinion Montserrats version is the best I´ve heard till now.

Flawless vocalism, I can't believe so many idiots talk shit about Renee just because they adore high E's and F's galore from singers who don't even have a middle voice, ugh. Renee's voice is a freakin' miracle, I absolutely adore it.
