@darkprince39 There is a scene not exactly in the beginning of the movie but quite where Jack and Ennis are squabbling. Jack hits Ennis causing him a nosebleed . Jack tries to make amends by trying to wipe off Ennis blood by his shirt sleeve, while Ennis tried to do so as well. Afterwards, Jack steals Ennis's shirt and Ennis thinks he had lost it, until twenty years later he finds it in Jack' s closet, with Jack's bloodstained shirt tucked over it.
