Idk if you know, but you can press y to quit the ATB charge thing and just attack when you think it will be enough and idk if this makes sense it explained it in chapter 3 though.

@halo3abosol1 Similar. My challenge is called SRC - Secondary Roles Challenge. It is identical to NCU for the first half of the game, and then you're only allowed to use and upgrade secondary roles. I'm planning to upload the first video today.
