Plain and simple, it seems like American politics is about choosing the lesser douche bag who gives the slightly straighter answer.

  • What was so pathetic about that? Well said Paul Thorn.

  • Right on right on Paul. The real trouble is when they DO give you specifics and then turn around after they get elected and do the exact opposite?!?!!? It's when they do that, that makes you crazy. It's just expected that they say one thing and then get elected and do nothing. We the People should not tolerate that aspect of our elected leaders.

  • Why would you label Paul Thorn having 'pathetic politics'? He was being kind enough to talk to you in the first place. Have some manners; you asked for his opinion and he gave it.

  • @am60mo so ok to you 'making it better' may mean increasing involvment in the war. to me 'making it better' may mean ending our involvment. so the politician says make it better. which pleases both us and maybe gets both our votes and then once elected the politician increases invovlment. which makes you say 'hey he did what he said he would' and makes me say 'the lying son of a bitch.' we should actually start demanding real answers. look at the 'debates' unchecked bs from candidates.

  • @am60mo I have never in my life heard a politician give a specific answer to a campaign. they go to great lengths to make general statements, which people may complete in their own heads into something quasi specific. politicians are trying to win by being as unspecific as possible so they can do whatever they think is necessary once elected. so pauls right you hear a guy say we need to make the war better. and you interpret that however you want. but its not specific.

  • Paul is making a great point. He's making the point George Orwell was making in 1984, and everybody fucking missed the point. THe point of 1984 isn't that government or socialism will destroy freedom, but that by letting euphemism replace political speech, government can do anything simply by changing the name. So ministry of war becomes ministry of peace. freedom is slavery. demand plain straight answers from your leaders!

  • Pathetic my eye. Rock on, Paul---we love you.

  • You can tell by any of the negative comments that the truth stings like a bitch! I am a fan Paul...Thanks

  • Michele Bachmann 2012!

  • I was listening to a local talk show host here in Buffalo who used to be a politician and he said something like, if your looking to get elected you never give a direct answer, then you can't be held accountable, any seasoned politician knows that. (sucks huh)

  • @BEATYOAZ Bullshit, Ron Paul is a worm.

  • That isn't pathetic at-all, I'm a political science major with a fucking college degree, and I couldn't agree with the man more. I spent four years and no telling how many thousands of dollars for this nations public universities to teach me what this gentleman's common sense already has told him, good man Mr. Thorn, you should be a professor! Post Script, is he from Arkansas, because I am also, and I would absolutely love to go see him live some time?!
