i believe cos of the power cosmic the surfer isnt affected by both extremes of temperature e.g doesnt feel the extreme cold of space ever...he doesnt need to breathe either

Not many heroes can grab the torch like that and not be affected by the intense heat. I'm thinking Superman, Shazam, Odin, probably some other ones i can't think of right now. but surfer is damn impressive.
