Amy O’Neill loved the simple things in life. She knew how to see the good in every life.Amy, 53, of Hamden, one of the longest-living survivors of a rare and painful disorder, recessive epidermolysis bullosa died early Sunday at Hospice in Branford. “Amy lived with a zeal for life that shined as bright as the sun. Amy’s spirit brought together her community because it helped folks appreciate the simple things in life in a way no one else could.”

As of Sunday July 24th, 2011, Amy is with God. It was her faith in Him and her desire to live and make the best of her circumstances that kept her alive. I have known her for 11 years. My wife has known her since around 1985. We knew her pain and suffering and watched her struggle as she lost parts of her body and suffered through skin grafts. All she wanted to do was live and live even more. She kept her days full while she struggled independently to do what she could on her own. Peace Amy.
