A quick flyby of the Synergy v.18 double boxtail, electric powered aircraft prototype. This footage is from the third test flight and was shot prior to wing and fuselage blending, at Glacier R/C Field near Whitefish, MT. Test pilot was Addison Clark. This aircraft is 25% scale and constructed of carbon fiber. It weighs 30 lbs and is powered by a 63mm brushless outrunner motor.

Synergy demonstrates a new technology for stability and control through induced drag reduction and it harmonizes six proven methods for drag reduction. This prototype however, uses none of them (other than its signature double boxtail configuration) due to the effect of low Reynolds number on its full scale geometries and its having a standard (non-wake-impeller) prop. Its primary job was to benchmark aeroelastic behaviors and handling against our simulations. Its effect was to blow our minds and motivate us to complete the five passenger, full scale version and fly it to Oshkosh ASAP! My apologese. The former critic concerns the item : "Synergy aircraft designed by John Mc Ginn..." in which a promotional film report is shown. Try and get a professional movie maker/editor...

I wish I could at last watch a decent film report which allows me to seriously watch details instead of the usual nervous breakdown of a moviemaker who is fully unable to consider the fact that watchers want information , rather than 60 sixty different shots a minute ! Please allow us enough time to let details "land"...! This wonderful design deserves all possible credit and attention! Otherwise just show us a series of still pictures ! I'm really sorry bout having this comment...

I figure based my exprerience on model aeroplanes assume that is equivalent of flying a 2600 lbs weighing real size aeroplane. 15 lbs in 1/4 scale that is.
