@Rawk4Life He does play chords on the verses and on the choruses.. He play the intro riff, and that's the only place in the song where he doesn't play chords.

You notice that he doesn't play any chords when strumming with his fingers. He brought in John Schneck to do that so he could focus more on his vocal and piano playing skills. Still, finger strumming is anything but easy.
