  • What inductance at a charge reactor?

  • The inductance within the charging circuit is about 1000mH. It is dimensioned for a saturation current of 5,6A. Therefor an iron core (110cm2/ 60kg) is used in combination with an air gap of about 8mm and a coil consisting of 800 windings of enamelled copper wire (1,66mm) (see slide-show-video) Thank your for your interest.

  • @moonbutt42 how it's can be? so low nductance for DC in HV circut... Usually use 5-15H. My DCSGTC normally didn't work with inductance less than 4H (doubler caps was 2*4uF).

What at your capacity of condensers in feeding?

  • @HedgehogTH

Sorry my answer took a while. I didn’t find any time until yet.

Within the optimum arrangement of capacitor and inductor the current through charging inductor reaches its maximum when the voltage of capacitor and supply are equal. At that point of time also the energy stored in the capacitor and the inductor are equal. This is when supply has its nominal power at 4500V/ 4,5A.

  • @HedgehogTH

Now, knowing the tank capacity, the inductance can easily be calculated. 1200mH would be the optimum, but my Iron-core did not allow gaining a higher value, otherwise it would have saturated. Nevertheless it works satisfying. The 3-phase-supply includes a smoothing capacity of 6,8μF.

  • OMG!! did not you think what Tank Cap (1.2uF) that it too much?

  • In fact I did, but I wanted to combine materials I could cheap and easily obtain. As a result of this there were hard difficulties to manage concerning the spark gap. The only material able to manage the amount of energy was thungsten wich is extremely difficult to treat. But finaly it worked. I'd like to make a video that offers a further look upon the compounds. Maybe within the next week while I find time to prepare.

  • BUG ZAPPER!!

  • What an amazing coil!

This is exactly what i have been building lately :)

DC resonant charging SGTC is superior compared to AC coils
