It's pathetic that people defend Don Cherry on this assume people watch hockey to see the fights. If you're a shitty team and your only tactic is to take out the other team's best players by fighting, then your team is not good enough to be in the league. People should care about how the younger generation of players perceive the sport. They should grow up working on actual skill and leave the fighting to the MMA where there is better sportsmanship and leadership between the fighters.

I knew I'd get a response like this. Apparently I can't criticize someone on television for their remarks unless I'm perfect, my remarks must be 100% positive from now on. But a man on television can ignorantly criticize others, and that's fine.

People are angry at Don Cherry for all sorts of reasons -- try reading this thread. That being said, yes, he said some things that were not accurate about some fighters. Yes, he's a human being. Yes, human beings make mistakes. I guess you are perfect? If so, you may cast the first stone...

@vancouver300 Well, I watch hockey, but that's not to say I hold NHL in high regard. It's getting pretty pathetic. Hockey is 5 guys and a goalie attempting to score more goals than the other side. That is not implicit of fighting any more than fighting is implictit of hockey. How do you feel about the head shot issue?
