In my opinion generic music includes Nirvana, Slipknot, AC/DC and Beatles. And this type of music doesn´t fulfil me. I need to hear something more artistic like Orphaned Land.

@MrVoiceofreason123 I agree in what you say my dear fellow :) But if you listen to Porcupines more early records, like the sky moves sideways you will hear that it's sounds very much like Pink floyd. But porcupine tree HAVE changed their style. ( I love both old and new porcupine tree) :)

Hell yeah, i'm totally agree with this guy arguments. Orphaned Land is a band with new music.

@pwoods100 I agree. Porcupine Tree used to sound like Pink Floyd on their early albums, but they have definately developed their own sound/style over the years. That doesn't mean that they have ceased to use elements of PF in their music. A song like "Time Flies" from their latest CD is surely inspired by Pink Floyd's "Dogs" from 1977.

@Jalanko13 I have to disagree somewhat, they definitely have Pink Floyd influences, but they also have the metal element in some of their songs, which Pink Floyd doesn't have. Their earlier stuff sounded more like Pink Floyd, but I still think Porcupine Tree have devloped their own style over the years. Just my opinion......

@PTHead1 I believe you are forgetting Opeth
Listen you morons, he's not saying that Nirvana and AC/DC were shitty bands. He's saying that too many bands sound are trying to sound like those bands and other bands. And for you people who think Porcupine Tree sound like Pink Floyd you must know nothing about either band. Sure Dark Side of the Moon was a seminal record in helping Wilson establish his style, but his style is completely his own.
