At NAIAS 2012, Volvo showcased their first XC60 Gasoline Plug-in Hybrid Concept Technology which has been developed specifically for the US and China markets. The XC60 incorporates three cars in one - a pure electric car, a highly economical hybrid and a powerful high-performance car.

  • concept is just talk... Toyota, Honda and Ford all have plug in hybrids available in 2012, 2012 and 2013 respectivly.

  • Why the hell don't they just make the thing a diesel-electric? In essence a battery powered car with a diesel generator? With that you don't need a gearbox as you use a small diesel engine as a generator only. That system would be much more efficiant with less energy loss.
