@TheJasepetrucci I honestly feel that its age, not laziness the bands put a lot of effort in their performances, but its age. I dont care though i love that band.

@libertheme66 realize* but what Lars does, he does it good. And he has a unique style that is very easily recognizeable. but people need to realize the band is getting older, and theyre not teenagers anymore.

@AQDeathstar well I think people need to release Metallica has a whole is getting old, People need to get that. The band is getting older, i love Metallica to death i own every album blah blah. Lars is a great player, he isnt the best and he isnt the greatest. I know Portnoy is a great drummer ive met him and ive seen him play live, but in the end, you cant compare drummers from two different genres... But yes, Portnoy is a great player, completely phenomenal player.

I've seen Lars at Sonisphere managing to screw up One. A song he's had 20 years to practise, that most 15-year-old drummers with double bass can do well, and he screwed up the signature part.
I respect him as a drummer, but when people start talking as though Lars is better because he came before Mike, I get annoyed.

@AQDeathstar Not even saying Lars is better than Portnoy, I know Lars isnt the greatest drummers ever, he has a unique style though for sure (lars does, ive seen lars live, he can play whether or not people can believe that) But I was just saying Portnoy is influenced by lars everyone is like shocked and since when does a dream theater vid have comments about lars seriously?

Inspired by doesn't mean that Lars is better than him. I know it's an opinion, but for fuck's sake it's a wrong one. Mike is far superior to Lars in any way you could care to name. He's faster, more technical, he can play a huge range of styles, and he has better facial hair.
