Super Mario Bros Commercial

Commercial I did for my Broadcast Graphics class. Its for Super Mario Bros on the NES :)

All the graphics were hand "re-created" (none of the original images were used, except for the final shot of the NES). All of the 8-bit graphics were done pixel by pixel. The game play footage is of me playing, captured on my PC (Boo).

The assignment was to create a commercial relying heavily on Adobe After Effects. Not wanting to be a cheapskate and do the easy 8-bit commercial, I decided to add a little flare by creating and using the 3-d cube (definitely not as easy as it seems).

Project time: 36 hours
PC Render Time: 7 hours (had to do this 3 times cause of errors :[ )
My New Mac Pro Render Time: 15 minutes (no joke! haha It's ridiculous)

**UPDATE**

To those asking, I did get an A for the project and for the class :) Also, this is a two year old project. I learned a lot about the program and because of it, I landed a job as a Director of Photography and Motion Graphics Editor at a local production company of which I have been with since December 2009. Since then, my skills have greatly improved, and I could probably recreate this in a quarter of the time. Thanks for all the support!!

@shandelear I'm not sure to be completely honest, I never had a real version of the track. It's been much debated to who the original artist was, and since no one came to a general consensus, credit was never given to a particular artist just in case it was the wrong one. But I agree, major credit should be given to the musicians if it can be proven who the original artist is.
