Canada's finest, My Favorite Robot Records, return with the sixth release in their 'Stimulus Package' series featuring superb original cuts from a host of talent...
By this stage the My Favorite Robot label should need little introduction. The imprint is the work of the My Favorite Robot trio of Jared Simms, James Teej, and Voytek Korab and has in a few short years become home to some of the best electronic music around. Since the label began there has been a string of stunning multi artists EPs under the 'Stimulus Package' moniker, releases aimed at injecting some musical fluidity into the occasionally ailing music scene. Previous EP's have featured music from the likes of Kenny Glasgow, James Teej, Michael J Collins, Nitin & of course My Favorite Robot to name but a few, now the label looks to five acts, some of whom have appeared on the label before and others that are MFR newcomers.
The EP opens with the excellent 'Inside my Brain' by Hi-Fi Dirt, a super slice of dirty electro nu disco featuring cosmic space vocals, off kilter melodies and a pulsing rhythm section, quality stuff.
Next up we have The Model feat. My Favorite Robot whose current Crosstown Rebels release is creating quite a stir, here they drop 'Six Days of Heat' a superb dark tinged techy cut with MFR's distinctive ethereal vocals driving things on, edgy yet melodic this is a definite winner.
Sitting in third position is Finland's Phonogenic who delivers a hypnotic slab of acid tinged techy house with a great haunting vibe and a real late night feel to it.
The penultimate track is Clayton Steele's 'I Can't go Back', a spacy house workout, complete with rolling percussion, rich bass and emotive vocals that draw you in from the very start, class!
Finally we have the duo of Andrew Grant and Lomez who turn in 'Oshno', a deep, underground house cut with a stripped yet warm feel to it, understated yet highly effective this is a great bit of production.
More quality from the My Favorite Robot imprint, nothing less than you would expect.
My Favorite Robot's Sixth Stimulus Package is released in JULY 2011.
