  • hi i know you have the j pouch and are managing really well, do you think it was worth it? as i have an illeostomy but i manage really well with my bag and it doesnt bother me. so was trying to decide wether to have the j pouch surgory or just stick with my bag. regards michael

  • As I affirm numerously in my videos, surgery has been with it for me. Though I always tell people that it takes awhile, sometimes a year, to get the J-pouch working right, so you have to be patient through that process. If you manage well with your ostomy and have no problems with it, then surgery might not be necessary.

  • did u try execising ?

  • If you mean with my J-pouch, yes, I exercise and have no problems. Waited until about 2 months after the takedown surgery before doing anything real serious.

  • Hi Dennis...you rock! Thanks for the videos! Hope you are still doing good. My j-pouch didn't work out for me, had it disconnected after 2 1/2 years and went back to a end ileo. Best of luck to you! M

  • Hey man! Good to see that your doing well! I dont want to freak you out or anything but i got my Colostomy when i was 17 years old.

  • thanks for your reply. i must say that i am strongly thinking about the surgery as i'm only 25 and still have alot of my life to live. i also like to be very active. do you find you can do excercise and sports that you used to do now? and do you know any good websites that may help with my descition, regards michael

  • you should try it pal welcome to the black hole in calcutta !! and then some !!

  • have the sugery buddy why in gods name would you want the bag thats a nightmare !! i know i have it 11 months now 12 more days and its gone i had j pouch sugrey and now the take down and im free of the bag thats not a life having a bag be strong get it done !!! john.

  • i totally agree having the surgery is by far a better way at having better quality of life. during my last flare up before surgey i was going to thetoile 15 - 30 times a day and passing alot of blood plus the pain was excrutiating

  • I have Crohns, and had a panproctocolectomy 4 weeks ago, theyve took away my rectum, anus and large bowel...So now I've got a permenant ileostomy.

But things are so much better already! Its such a relief not having to run the toilet and loosing blood.
