Meet "LP" aka Little Pecker the baby Woodpecker

Camping @ Union Valley Reservoir in the El Dorado National Forest, California. My brother in law and his father found this little guy stranded; kicked out of its nest, and unable to get back to it (read: very high up in tree) and mother nowhere to be found. LP was looking lethargic and baking away in the sun alongside a walking trail. They picked it up, fed it some water from the lake and he started happily chirping away, so they took it with them back to the campsite where later they would forage for worms/ants/termites to piece up and feed to LP with a pair of tweezers. As you can see, he downs them enthusiastically.

This was about 2 weeks ago now, and I hear that LP is doing well being hand-raised by my brother-in-law's mother.

For all you ney-sayers, PETA activists, and just haters who might hate at the fact humans intervened; just go fuckoff. I don't care to hear your righteous drivel.
