NOBODY plays like that. HENDRIX didn't. AZAGTOTH bows down to this dude. Oh yeah Shawn Lane is a fucking monster and I love Di Meola too. I can definitely see similarities between Lane and Davis, like in the last Tribal Voudon when hes doing those diminished apreggios, sounds legato sort of like Lanes famous "outside sound" demonstrations. Both of them are obviously fast as hell too.

You are absolutley right on the money w/ that comment. Mike Davis is an incredible guitarist. I was just talking to someone a week ago about how I felt that Davis was the Di Meola of Death Metal. His phrases sounded uniquely different from most DM axmen of his time. IMO, Davis and the late Shawn Lane are probably the fastest & most technically gifted guitarist to ever grace this planet! The yellow guitars must have something to do with it...haha! :)

I read an interview with Browning where I think he said Davis actually still plays guitar and even does some teaching, but he hates the music industry (understandable when you read up on how badly it fucked Nocturnus over) and thats why he's fallen off the grid. Its ridiculous how ahead of his time he was as a player, especially his lead work on Thresholds - back in 92 some of the stuff he was doing you could only hear on fusion records, way beyond metal players at the time.
