Stonefish and Lionfish at the deep sea world aquarium in Edinburgh scotland,
Stonefish are one of the worlds most venomous fish, the venom is held in glands at the base of sharp spines along the fishes back. the venom is only used for defence, if stung the victim only has hours to live without anti-venom. these fish are ambush predators lying in wait for fish to come in range them swallowing them whole.
The lionfish, the long spines that form the lions mane giving these fish their name, each contains a powerful venom, generally lionfish are not aggressive only using the venom for defence. these fish are also known as zebra fish due to their stripped pattern.
