The best way to discover what a Monastery is is to visit one. Here in Long Beach we have 7 monasteries to choose from. Visiting any one of them would be a worthwhile experience!

and by the way, I'm not even religious. I just want to be somewhere for months to seach for peace and gather up my thoughts. I'm housebound and I started with wanting to take a semester off to be with myself and lose weight....but that is impossible here at home with all the yelling, the insulting blah blah blah
