i get a little confused watching a lot of these videos because i cant see the person with the bar and their lines as they are launching. So say I am doing a water launch with a bow is my bar supposed to be flipped upside down or the bar is right-side up (meaning the lines are twisted 180 degrees one direction)?

its an older kite, 2002 cabrinha 12m. my lines are hooked up properly... thanks for answering.

7m xbow obviously ;)

BEGINNERS and REGULUAR riders I would say ASK someone to flip your kite up, SAFEST WAY
For ppl that knows all the in and outs of there kites this is onbe of the easyuest ways to self lauch, I've done it on 6mcrosbow in 35 to 40knts of wind no problems.
RISK is if you try it and are not experianced enough (u know when ur are simpley as that) and somethings goes wrong ur screwed bigtime in high winds couse big cvhance u'll get deadthloops

It seems very easy when this guy do it. I wished to be good like that at the beginning. Thank you to other comments to prevent me about the risk of this technique. People scare me a bit when they talk about death and kite togheter.

I think this method is dodgey, prefer sandbag method. Risks include, risk of tearing kite leading edge as you slide it across the sand, if your lines are crossed/incorrect can go straight into a kiteloop and kill you, landing is similarly risky with need to drag along sand. The guy doing this demo is very experienced/highly skilled/not you average punter. With sandbag lessens risk, less kite damage, clearly see line faults before you commit to launch, less chance of a hot-launch etc

it's not all about inflatables, it would be much safer if your first kite was a 3m foil then you will understand how a kite behaves, it would stop so many accidents and actually get the sport growing, it's been 8 years now and the sport is still very small, Get the real kite experiance go to "kitesports" thats where its at!!! so much new stuff, 3 years ahead of everyone
can someone help me.. when i try this, the kite just slides down wind, leading edge face down the whole time.. any tips?

are you pulling on front or back line? You need to pull on the back line and you need to pull on just one not both. are your front a back lines rigged up correctly? What kite are you doing this on?

If you do not follow a safe method of launch, land and/or relaunch it can be the difference of life and death. The majority of kitesurfing accidents happen during launching or landing.

No worries chap I was just covering my ass to make sure that a newbie didn't go and try to launch a C through the middle of the window.

Will my c-shape kite do the same with 5th line? It looks like my kite was heavier than this one.

Don't forget that the Bows have "total depower" whereas the C doesn't. The solo launch in this video should be done by competent kitesurfers only and the water relaunch is a demonstration of water relaunching but on land. If you question whether you can or can't do something it is better not to do it and rely on buddies. I hope that helps? I have also seen relaunch vids for 5th line kites on youtube too.
