a humorous land survey instructional animation film, a cross between "land surveying for dummies" "dorf on land surveying" and "goofy on land surveying".
Metes is the instrument man (who loves his job) & Bounds is the rodman (who hates his job).
Currently in animatic stage.

  • In case of rain wait for it to clear??? Wow i have to find out where they work. I can't remember the last dry day I surveyed in Seattle.

  • yeah, in florida or new york (only places i ever surveyed).

I'm surveying in staten island right now, waiting in the truck...waiting in the truck...weather man sayz it will clear in a little bit...

  • We need more of these clips. Where can I find em?

    ~ University of Maine

  • There are no other land surveying animations, but I got some more solid stories to do a whole series about land surveying. I'm currently in production of a bunch of these animations. I'm looking for grants/funds to finish these films. Know of any resources? I really want to make a DVD for teaching the trade.

  • Lighten up... I was just kidding, hence, the use of the phrase "Seriously though". As you know, rod man is an entry level position - a junior crew member in training. Part of that training involves direct supervision by the party chief. Trust must be earned. Until then, I will watch over the rod man's every move to ensure that proper proceedure is followed to allow for the highest degree of accuracy and precision. Once a rod man knows how to do his job, he becomes I-man on another crew. ;-)

  • You mean you can actually trust your rod man to get the shot on the backsight point without walking over to it with him? lol... Rod men who know how to do their jobs properly are called party chiefs where I come from. ;-) Seriously though, I'd set up a backsight target using a tripod and tribrach instead of a rod shot, but that's me. Great video.

  • living in texas, it doesnt rain much, when i was working if it would start raining we would break down trying to beat that heat. its a good reason to cool off.

  • I find it funny that some people don't survey in rain.

  • Very cool stuff. Put more up. You guys check out Mississipi surveyors on you tube. Its just stuff we film on our down time.

  • Good stuff! Im a crew chief from Indiana

  • I think im gonna show this video to my rodman!!!

  • Thank you for the reply.

I'm just a student, but I'm sure one of the larger survey engineering firms out there would love to stick there name on something like this. Something to attract younger people to the trade, right? Maybe check out the surveying society in your area.
