A tribute to the seventies and Lavington Green in Nairobi, Kenya. Performed by Jonas Fogelstrom and Gycklarnas Afton. Gycklarnas Afton the underground swedish speaking favourites consisting of Peter Hägerstrand, Dennis Lindqvist, Jonas Fogelström and Marcus Quarnström. Thanks to Henric Mattsson for his help in the studio and for making my 40th birthday party something special.

  • give this place an african name

  • @karuitha it's not in my power to change the name and history of the place :-)

It's a part of the Nairobi I remember from the seventies (no offence).

Any good suggestions for an african name?

Guess it has to be in Kikuyu, maasai, Luo or Swahili.

Nothing can change the past, ndugu! All we have is the present!

My wish is for us all to live in a fair and tolerant world.

    Peace and Love

    Jonas

  • @jojijonas didnt mean it that way, I know its not in ur power to change the name. I grew up in the neighbouring estates and I have always wondered where about the name Lavington, a very European name, came from. We all know where Karen area got its name from. Just like Muthaiga, Msongari, Runda, Kabete I am sure Lavington and Karen had African names before. I know we cant change now but just thought it'd be nice.

  • @karuitha the name Lavington is Brittish and can be found in Brittain. And Nairobi felt a bit like little Brittain back then I've realized as I've visited London many times since. I think that if the people want to change the names the old colonizers gave places they absolutely should. Can be confusing at first but definetely good in the long run. But as we know there are many different people that make Kenya so there will be several names for the same place.

    Cheers
