Prince Rama Varma, accompanied by Parur Shri M.A.Sundareshwaran on the violin and by Shri B.Harikumar on the mridangam, sings a Pada Varnam in Raga Shanmukhapriya composed by his Guru, Dr.Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna during his concert at Hamsadhwani in April 2009. This Varnam is a masterpiece where the composer describes the process of the creation of the cosmos itself brilliantly, where poetry, rhythm and melody go together to create an exhilerating atmosphere.

  • What an amazing Varnam!!!And the rendition, just beyond description.....Is there any other word other than best,to describe him???

  • Thanks a ton!! Personal nostalgia- I used to love this varnam when this was taught to me, oh like 20 years back. In all this time, I have heard this only once in a concert, that too by my Guru's son. This varnam is such a master class on Shanmukhapriya, not to mention the brilliant swaraksharams and the other features mentioned in the info section. A brilliant composition of Sri BMK. Kudos to Sri Rama Varma for such a fine rendition.
