did you ever find out what the issue with your graphics was?
mine has been doing this exact thing since the fall (2008), and apple blames it on blizzard (and blizz on apple).

I never figured out what would cause this glitch. But as you can see, the normal fix was simply running past the offending area into a new one with different textures.
I do believe the fault is on Apple though. Sometimes that ATI X1600 can get pretty wonky, even outside of WoW. I can say I don't have nearly as many problems with the video card after I upgraded to Leopard.
