  • Yeah, I was running in the Domestic Advanced class Friday night and made it down to the final 4 cars and got put out by the black vette.

  • Yeah, I think I remember that....

  • It's hard to run with a 6.80 car sitting on DOT slicks when my car's on radial tires. The officials at AMS said that the only tire you could run in the domestic class was a radial tire and if you have any other tire on your car that you wouldn't be able to race. They changed there minds on that at the driver's meeting and said you can run a DOT slick,so I was pretty much the only guy down there on radials.I'd like to run the Riviera again but I haven't seen him down there running.

  • I went last week to the Streetdrag Nationals thing, and that was the first time I had been in about two-three weeks. So I can't say I've seen him either...haha

  • HAHA! that Riv was GONNNNE! Thanx for sharing

  • Yeah, that car will fly!

  • @kholtzclaw2008 well the riviera is exactly a 6.80 car, it ran consistent 7.50's in the eighth with a fastest time of 7.30. It made it down to the friday night drags a couple times a month on average but the owner, my dad, is going on 70 years old and cant always make it out. The car has the original 455 stage one block but has been totally re-worked, bored, stroked and even filled. Now sports 494ci and puts out 670hp and 707ft lbs of torq.

  • they came with the high compression 430 in the late 60's which was rated at 360 gross hp and 475 ft lbs of torque. Early seventies they started coming with the 455. It takes a mild 455 buildup with a good 2800-3000 converter to get these 5000 pound cars into high 12's. Doesn't take much with a buick 455. We have a guy on our buick site running a riv 12.80's on first couple passes with a mild cam intake, slightly better compression and a good converter, full interior car, 3.42 gears.

  • THIS GUY SOUNDS COOL

  • what all was done to that riv, I mean, it takes alot to move these tanks!
