David Lean is the best movie producer ever. Some of the shots in this movie a passage to India, where the train is travelling at sunset is absolutely marvelous at the few minutes of the bigenning of the film. David Lean is the best and i truly wish he were around to make more classic films. Thank you David. I truly also love the Film Lawence of Arabia You were a true movie director and made classic films. Thank you, from a fan of yours.

I love seeing people fighting about things so ridiculous such as if he made my forefathers suffer 200 years ago or why.......i find it so entertaining, like a dog fight, but stupid.

Actually after 200 yrs of colonialism, very few non-indians realize that India ever had a civilization of its own..funny enough though, a substantial amount of ancient Indian ruins/remains/artefacts were discovered by the british..

@khatifabar your answer is nothing more then naiveness and ignorance. Go study a little about colonialism, before stating such childish point of view. You and seven kids who thought you were right.
Why am I stating my opinion here? Of course you would think like this. You have to keep the British pride and the feeling that they had done something good for the "uncivilized".

Long memory to the RAJ !!!!!!!!

@newfful ye she is, unfortunately she's never really fulfilled her talent, she's always really good but most of the other movies she's been in have been weak.

The Brits would have profited far more if they had simply settled for doing good business with the various Nawabs and Maharajahs rather than conquering them. Just enough military action to keep the other European powers out of India would have sufficed.

I'll never understand why the European powers didn't take time to do the math before they went nuts for empire-building in the nineteenth-century.
Our own conservative economist Dr. Thomas Sowell did some number-crunching for one of his books back in the nineties and came to the conclusion that none of the colonies, including the "Jewel in the Crown" was ever (in the most ruthless economic terms) worth the expense of conquering and administering.

Judy Davis is one of those great unconventional beauties. That too-pale skin and those too-dark lips. Tis' a pity one can't wave a magic wand and make her twenty again. She'd do great in those teen vampire flicks that are all over the place now.
Great movie. Judy Davis is one hell of a brilliant actress.

@Skii06 you don't have to be so bitter. the gora sahib is gone and you have your own government. from what i see you live in the UK and by and large you Indians have done pretty well there and if the english goras didn't want you they could have expelled you like Idi Amin did but the UK took those Ugandan Asians in they are all living pretty comfortably.
