GREAT FILM -- and not just for fans of C&S! The historical footage includes rare glimpses of Baldwin diesels (shark nose and "baby face") and numerous details of historical operations, including a wonderful visual history of train order transmission/reception. There's much more!
I absolutely loved this video and shared it on my Ruby Rail Cruisers website, and also shared with other rail fan friends of mine. Good job! I'm looking forward to viewing more videos from your source.
At 10:47, note the train order they show. It's of a New York Central train order for a Harlem Division train meeting another train in Brewster, NY (this is now the Harlem Line for Metro North Railroad). NS has no relation at all to anywhere on current day Metro North, so I am uncertain as to why they would show a clip of this. Cool either way, though!
This was really nice to watch with the acceptation of no information on automatic switching. I enjoyed maintaining the S&C for 30 years Illinois. Thanks for the video
At 718, it shows a train on the SAL entering a siding somewhere. I looked but could not find the Milepost location usually stenciled on the Signal mast. Does anyone know where this location was? SAL did not stencil the name of the siding on the metal Signal Houses so there is no way to know where this is but it looks very flat like maybe Georgia or Florida. I am just wondering if this location still exists today as much of the SAL has been abandoned.
